　　當紙張含水量過大時，紙張中纖維、填料和膠料之間的粘結力很容易降低，影響紙張的錶面強度，導致印刷後出現脫粉、脫發等不良現象。然而，粉末脫落和脫發的發生降低了紙張邊緣的硬度和剛度，而且在送紙時容易產生定位不穩定的問題，造成印刷錯誤。如果紙張的含水量太低，紙張的彈性很差，印刷時點印容易膨脹，造成網點膨脹率大。


　　因此，紙張不應在不適合其含水量的高濕度條件下印刷，而應在中等濕度的條件下印刷，這有利於保證超印精度。為了使紙張在整個紙張錶面的含水量保持均勻一致，同時適應印刷車間的溫濕度，同時為了降低紙張對環境濕度的敏感性，提高紙張尺寸的穩定性，在印刷前一般需要採取一定的處理措施。
