　　畫冊書刊印刷的適當色彩表達和藝術處理，可以在讀者的視覺上產生引人註目的效果。色彩的使用應考慮內容的需要，以不同的色彩對比效果來表達不同的內容和理念。在對比中尋求統一性和協調性，對色彩間的相互配置是適當的，使對比色在協調中得到統一。書名的顏色應該用在封面上有一定的重量，如果純度不夠，就不能產生明顯的醒目效果。除了繪畫色彩為封面設計外，還具有裝飾性色彩的表達。文藝書籍封面設計的色彩不一定適合教科書，教科書和理論著作的封面顏色不適合兒童書籍。要辯證地看待色彩的意義，不能用形而上學。


　　一般來說，圖畫類書刊的印刷應設計兒童出版物的色彩，針對幼兒的細膩、樸素、天真、可愛的特點，色彩往往被高調處理，削弱各種對比的強度，強調柔情；女性書刊的色彩可以根據女性的特點選擇柔和、迷人、典雅的色彩系列；體育雜志的色彩則強調刺激、對比和追求色彩的影響。藝術雜志的色彩需要豐富的內涵，要有深度，不應該輕浮、粗俗；科普書刊的色彩可以強調神秘感；時尚雜志的色彩應該是時尚的、充滿個性的；專業學術雜志的色彩應該是莊重、嚴肅、典雅的，體現權威感，而不應強調高純色彩的對比。


　　除了協調印刷色彩的配置外，我們還應註意色彩對比關系，包括色彩相位、純度、亮度的比較。如果封面上沒有顏色和溫暖的對比，你就會感到缺乏生命；如果封面上的光線深度沒有對比，你會感到沉悶和氣喘吁吁；如果封面上沒有鮮明的純凈對比，你就會感到衰老和粗俗。在封面色彩設計中，要把握亮度、純度和色彩的關系，利用這三種關系來瞭解和找出封面出現弊端的原因，從而提高封面的色彩素養。
