(1)抵消印刷裝置及所用的印版、橡皮布、紙張等印刷材料的厚度給印刷壓力帶來的各種偏差,保證壓印面良好接觸,因此是印刷裝置各種誤差的補償環節。(2)吸收在動載荷作用下產生於印刷裝置壓印接觸的振動和沖擊,因此它又是緩沖環節。

(3)改變壓縮變形量以調節壓力,它是印刷壓力的調節環節。

(4)橡皮布本身也完成圖文傳遞和轉印。
