陷印處理是採用電腦軟件來解決彩色印刷生產過程中出現的露白現象,以達到更完美印刷畫面的目的。處理的基本原則是在有兩種顏色交接的截面,作出是否需要進行陷印處理的判斷,使用內縮外擴的方法進行補償。

內縮是將元素縮小,減少其讓空。外擴是將元素變得稍大一點。陷印採用內縮還是外擴取決於前景色比背景色深還是淺,人們總是願意調整淺色物體的形狀,原因是其周邊比深色物體的視覺重量要輕。對內縮和外擴而言有一個規律:從淺色延伸到深色。
