古書裝幀形式之一,西藏吐蕃時期古藏文書籍的主要裝幀形式。源於古印度用梵文書寫的貝葉經,古印度是佛教的發祥地,佛教經典在很長的歷史時期內都是書寫在貝多樹葉上。其過程是依次將貝葉經摞好,在其上、下各夾配一塊與貝葉經大小相同的竹片或木板,並在夾板中段打兩個圓洞,用繩索兩端分別穿入洞內,將繩索結扣。

古書裝幀形式之一,西藏吐蕃時期古藏文書籍的主要裝幀形式。源於古印度用梵文書寫的貝葉經,古印度是佛教的發祥地,佛教經典在很長的歷史時期內都是書寫在貝多樹葉上。其過程是依次將貝葉經摞好,在其上、下各夾配一塊與貝葉經大小相同的竹片或木板,並在夾板中段打兩個圓洞,用繩索兩端分別穿入洞內,將繩索結扣。

在西藏,一般將紙張書寫或雕印的經文效仿貝葉經,用木板相夾,而後以繩索、布帶捆扎。這種裝幀方式主要用於藏文藏經梵夾裝一般將帙、部、捲、品的名稱都列為專頁置於前面,書籍前有數頁頌贊韻文,後有數頁包括著者、成書年代、刻版地、贊助人等的文字,每頁正面左側標明捲、品、頁碼。

全書通常用古藏文楷書、行書、草書體抄寫刻版。除墨筆寫印外,也有用朱紅、金銀粉汁寫成的。在珍貴的佛經抄本中,還在雕漆梵夾裝上鑲有松耳石等珠寶。

藏文大藏經《甘珠爾》和《丹珠爾》等佛教經典的裝幀形式都以梵夾裝為主梵經被譯漢以後,特別是譯成中國的少數民族語文之後,例如藏文、蒙文藏經,其用紙張書寫或雕印的經葉,也有仿效貝葉經的。這種經集數葉成一摞之後,也有上、下用木板相夾,而後用繩索、布帶相捆的。雖非貝葉經的梵夾裝,但顯然是對梵夾裝的模仿,故亦可稱為梵夾裝。
