為名著類書籍設計封面時,需要先從瞭解書籍的內容及本質入手,高度地提煉並概括地表現其內在價值,做到簡而不凡,精而不俗。以前我們經常看到的名著封面有很多是以經典的圖案來裝飾的,並不能深刻地體現出內在氣質,只是從錶面上做到了高檔精緻,實際上卻給人一種華而不實的感覺,缺少了創新的觀念及原創性的設計手法。

名著類的系列叢書在設計時要以註重整體化的藝術形式為宗旨。因系列叢書是圍繞一定主題內容而編纂的多本獨立的著作,所以要在外形及風格上構成一個統一的整體,在個體設計中只是區分個別差異性信息,這樣不僅有助於書籍品質的整體提升,更有利於讀者發現並便於收納。套書是由於一部書的印張過多,分為上、中、下三部或更多冊來印製。
