近代膠印機上所採用的輸紙機,大致上可以分為兩種形式。

①間隙式輸紙機,也稱單張式輸紙機。

②連續式輸紙機,也稱重疊式或流水式輸紙機。

這兩種驗機都是屬於氣動式的間隙式輸紙機是指輸紙部件在輸送紙張時,總是一張一張地連續的進行。因為在被輸送的每張紙之間,都有一定的間隔,所它的效率不高,每小時僅輸紙3000~4000張。與間隙式輸紙機相比,連續式輸紙機的情況就大不相同。被連續式輸紙機所輸送的紙張像撞水一樣,重疊覆蓋前進。這樣,它在單位時間內所送往前規的紙張數,要比間隙式紙機多得多。

每小時大約可輸紙10000張。又因為它走紙速度小(0.35~0.5m/3),紙張在前規處的擊不大。紙張的彈跳現象也不嚴重,加之紙張在輸紙板上的定位時間較長,所以紙張的定位穩定性能好,故印品的套印準確度高正因為連續式輸紙機,具備著間隙式輸紙機所沒有的許多優點,所以它被近代膠印機所廣泛採用。
