我國的《包裝通用術語》國家標準對包裝下了明確的定義:“為在流通過程中保護產品方便儲運,促進銷售,按一定的技術方法而採用的容器、材料及輔助物等的總稱


防偽包裝是建立在包裝保護、方便和促銷三大功能基礎上,是包裝保護功能的補充與完善。防偽包裝可定義為:借助包裝,防止商品在流通與轉移過程中被人為意識的因素所竊換和假冒的技術與方法。定義中的流通包括從生產廠家到經銷商(及商店),以及從經銷商到消費者手中的全部流通環節。轉移包括兩部分:首先是商品從生產廠家向消費(售)地點的實體商品的轉移,其次是消費者從銷售店購買商品後完成的所有權的轉移。防偽包裝的作用是防止商品在流通和轉移過程中不被竊換、假冒

防偽包裝主要是針對銷售包裝而言的,它主要是指那些需要進入商場流通,並在貨架或櫃臺上由消費者及用戶進行挑選的產品包裝。對於那些大批量的工業品包裝及運輸包裝防偽包裝的意義相對小些,甚至有些包裝及其產品幾乎沒有必要防偽,如集裝箱包裝、大型水泥袋包裝等。因為這些包裝的內容物基本上是需方(用戶)直接到生產廠家提貨,同時待貨到需方後驗收,中間環節較少,假冒的可能性不大。因此,防偽包裝一般指銷售包裝
