橢圓式包本機是目前最先進的機型,聯動線使用的大型、高速、功能多的都是橢圓式包本機,一般與配頁機聯合使用。

橢圓式包本機融合了直線式包本機和圓盤式包本機的優點,一方面,橢圓式包本機在進行銑背、開槽、上膠等工序操作時,都處於直線工位,因此這些動作的一致性非常高同時其直線運行距離長,因此乾燥時間也長,使膠訂質量得到了提高另一方面,橢圓式本機在運轉方式上與圓盤式類似,動作是連續循環的,效率高,出書後定型好,書背不易被碰撞小型的橢圓式包本機工藝流程是:上書芯→撞齊→夾緊→銑背拉槽→刷背膠和側膠上封面→夾緊定型→出書,其中上書芯、撞齊及收書是使用手工完成的橢圓式包本機的工作過程與圓盤式包本機類似,將書帖配成書芯後由人工送入包本機夾書器,定位後由夾書器夾住,在機器上做橢圓運動分別經過各個工位時,完成銑背打毛上膠、包本成型等工藝。


由於單機操作,膠訂包本單機與自動高速的各種聯動線相比,調整機器較快,使用方便,出正品快,浪費少,個性化強,適合生產少而精的產品。加工本冊厚度2~50適應範圍廣,但生產效率低。
