在曝光過程中，對應於數字圖像區域的感光鼓錶面因放電而電荷消失，結果形成被稱做充電成像。

     靜電印刷中的充電成像

感光鼓在每次曝光之前都要經過清洗和高壓預充電，在充電過程中，感光鼓錶面帶上均勻的負電荷。

系統內的發光二極管（LED）陣列完成成像過程，從而使負電荷變成復制的數字圖像。

光線透過感光鼓錶面，在感光鼓錶面記錄圖像信息。LED陣列作為產生圖像的光源安裝在與感光鼓軸平行的位置。

於是隨著感光鼓的旋轉，就可以達到逐行記錄圖像的目的。感光鼓曝光區域，有機光導體因放電而電荷消失，從而形成勢陷，勢陷的深度與LED的光強無關。

在曝光過程中，對應於數字圖像區域的感光鼓錶面因放電而電荷消失，結果形成被稱做充電成像。
