金屬印刷用材料根據制罐成型後的不同要求應該選擇不同的品種。目前各金屬印刷廠常明的金屬材料，按其錶面硬度可分硬性、中性和軟性三種。

金屬印刷用材料根據制罐成型後的不同要求應該選擇不同的品種。目前各金屬印刷廠常明的金屬材料，按其錶面硬度可分硬性、中性和軟性三種。


鋁合金薄板屬於軟性金屬板，普薄板屬於中性金屬板，鍍鉻薄鋼板則屬於硬性金屬板。


在金屬印刷操作過程中，金屬印刷機的壓力、包襯、油墨的選擇應視不同硬度的材料，合理調節和選用。


一般硬性金屬板印刷品所用的包襯材料以軟性包襯為主，軟性和中性金屬板以中性包襯為宜。


金屬板錶面的性能直接影響印刷品的美觀和產品的使用價值。例如鍍錫薄鋼板，尤其是熱浸鍍錫薄鋼板，


錶面錫層厚薄不勻、錶面粗糙或鋼板基本身厚薄不勻會給印刷帶來一系列的麻煩。致使著墨不勻，嚴重的還會使油墨印不上而影響印刷效果。


另外，鋼板基本身厚薄不勻使機器的壓力調節無所適從，印出來的產品墨色差異也較大。


所以在選擇金屬板時，既要使之符合金屬印刷機的印刷要求，又要符合制罐的具體工藝要求。


這樣既能印刷出精緻美觀的印刷品，又能製成符合質量要求的金屬包裝品。
