包裝印刷領域對環保的要求越來越高，食品包裝應符合工業標準中的歐洲聯邦塗料料製造協會（CEPE）標準。

從油墨上來說，要不斷解決油墨中諸如鉛、苯、芳香族化合物乙基乙一醇等有害物質的含量，保證其對食品；用品的安全和印刷人員的身體健康14年，

去除了油墨顏料中的鉛；20世紀70年代後期，去除了溶纖劑（乙基乙醇）特酶印刷技術：20世紀80年代早期，去除了食品包裝說明中的甲苯；

20世紀80年代後期，去除了相關的聯苯膠黃色顏料：20世紀90年代初期，減少了苯二甲酸增塑劑的使用等。陽離子油墨在研製起步階段（20世紀80年代中期），

上述一些有害物質的含量也未達到行規標準，但後來經過不斷改進，終於使這些有害物質的含量越來越少如苯，在現在生產的陽離子油墨中，

它的含量極低，使用普通分析技術，根本檢測不到，陽離子油墨在印刷過程中所表現出的巨大優勢，必然會得到越來越多的認可。
