金銀墨的連結料是一種特殊的調墨油，簡稱調金油或調銀油。由特種樹脂、乾性植物油。

種有機溶劑，經高溫精煉而成。金銀墨印刷墨層的光亮度主要取決於金屬粉末本身的成色性、

金屬粉末的懸浮性和粉末顆粒直徑與形狀等因素，此外，調金油或調銀油對金屬粉末的親和性能也有影響。

為了使金銀墨具有良好的印刷性能，達到理想的印刷效果，要求調金油或調銀油必須要有足夠的黏度。

與金、銀粉調和後基本達到印刷油墨的黏性、流動度等性能要求。若黏度過低，就不能很好地傳遞金、銀粉，往往會造成墨粉在墨輥和印版上堆積等故障。

調墨油要有足夠的透明度，酸值要低，化學性能要較穩定。這樣才能改善金、銀粉的成色性能，使金屬粉末的光澤和著色力更強。

調配時要與金、銀粉均勻地混合，以保證金屬粉末懸浮體的穩定和良好的印刷性能。調好的油墨必須具備快乾和快固著的性能，印到紙面上迅速乾燥，不使背面粘臟。

一般的情況下，在凸版印刷中調金油或調銀油與金、銀粉的混合比例為1：1或3：2；在平版膠印中的混合比例約為2：3。
