收斂法是運用收斂思維的設計方法,於異中求同,在大量創造性設計設想的基礎上,通過分析、綜合、比較、判斷而選擇出最有價值的最佳設想。克裡斯托弗·瓊斯認為,收斂是把發散、變換後擴大了的領域和方向集中綜的過程,發散是盡可能地找出設計問題;變換是找出具體的解決間題的方法和圖樣,收斂則是從中找出一條通向設計目的的最佳方法

克裡斯托弗·瓊斯的設計方法解決了設計師的個人思考和主觀創造意識與客觀的情報分析、邏輯性判斷評價之間的結合協調問題,將主觀能力與邏輯性思考融為一體,並以此為基礎,產生創造性的設計方案。


除了以上我們主要介紹的三種流派以外,還有參與設計法、技術預測法、優化設計法、模擬設計法、可靠性設計法、動態設計法等多種方法,形成不同內容的流派體系。對於具體的設計活動來說,有時需要多種方法交叉使用,而且隨著設計的發展,必將產生更多、更新的設計方法與之相適應。
