創意思維的獨創性表現在突破上。面對矛盾沖突獨闢蹊徑尋求解決辦法,是對條條框框、落後觀念的拋棄,只有拋棄了別人司空見慣和墨守成規的想法,才會有獨樹一幟的見解和創新產生。許多科學家和藝術家都是因為懂得否定與拋棄,才推動了人類文明進程的發展。沒有思考中的創新就沒有設計中的創意。

例如荷蘭科學思維版畫大師埃舍爾,專門從事木版畫和平版畫創作,他從閱讀的數學著作中獲得巨大的靈感。埃舍爾無疑是一名出色的藝術家,但是,他卻與同時代的藝術家幾乎沒有交流。埃舍爾習慣於獨行,幾乎是孤身一人進行著他的繪畫探索。他也是一位思想家,只不過他的思想不是付諸語言,而是行動。
